He is the man who chooses the bank to rob in the Horsemen’s first performance. It is later in the movie revealed that he was chosen by the Horsemen because they wanted to rob the bank they knew he would choose.
His last name "Forcier" is an insider reference to the method known as "forcing", used by magicians to let the audience think they have free choice. Etienne Forcier is selected by "forcing" during the Horsemen's first show.
